Dawn
The first rays of the sun on the approaching spring day break through the thin layer of clouds and make their way through the treetops of the coniferous forest. The sunlight brightens the green mossy ground of the forest, where the morning dew glistens like little diamonds in the light. The forest itself, idyllically situated in a rugged mountain valley, is still surrounded by swirling mists of the early morning. Encircled by jagged mountain peaks and untouched nature, the icy cold mountain stream flows down into the valley.
Silence and tranquility dominate the idyll. Only the rushing of the water, the singing of the birds, and the tapping of a woodpecker can be heard. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. No people, no cities, no voices, no noise - Nothing! The fresh and pure air of the forest fills the lungs. The soft forest floor grounds our innermost self, and we find space and time to return to our source - Return to the Source!
I love to seek out such landscapes. To be connected with the forces of nature, to be reminded of where our roots lie. Puristic, mind-clearing elements in their purest form...
Since I live in southern Germany, with the Alps and forests practically at my doorstep, I can relatively easily visit suitable scenarios and landscapes.
Eau Sauvage is exactly such an ethereal timekeeper, perfectly supporting experiences close to nature. When I close my eyes and smell the fragrance, I can think of such a place in the sense of an olfactory pause moment.
First and foremost, the Eau invigorates with its fresh, slightly citrusy sprightliness. Just like the situation of standing next to the mountain stream, whose gently splashing water softly moistens the skin. The moss on the forest floor and at the roots of the trees, still slightly sparkling from the morning dew, evokes a mild herbal note. Together, these elements create a beautiful opening.
Rising from the forest floor, a green-herbaceous accord can be perceived. Fragrant and steaming under the mist of the trees. Very mild and wonderfully embedded in the early morning hours of this still young day. The surrounding majestic trees, with their balsamic and resinous presence, define the entire picture of this landscape and give the fragrance the necessary depth and intensity. The rugged and jagged surrounding mountain landscape makes the fragrance appear wild and daring.
To convey warmth again through the incoming rays of sunlight, they even create a subtle sweetness that delicately softens the overall impressions.
This is an image that can manifest itself when I intensely absorb and process Eau Sauvage internally. Even the greenish color of the fragrance fits perfectly with this idea. On one hand, the fragrance conveys an enormously rough and wild side, while on the other hand, it also appears very harmonious and balanced. Due to the high balsamic-resinous content, it is even calming in a certain way.
The liquid in the bottle appears relatively oily. Therefore, I suspect a suitable proportion of fragrance substances. This, in turn, is confirmed in both longevity and sillage. Eau Sauvage lasts on my skin for a good 6 - 7 hours with good perceptibility.
In conclusion, Dior's creation in the 2012 version is for me a successful interpretation of untamed wilderness and gentle nature...
By the wild river...
Let us return to the source...
The origin of life...
In the rhythm of nature...
As always, remain loyal to me and thank you for reading...

Wonderfully vivid and impressive characterization. I've tried it a few times, but it's too dark for me. When testing, I always have the original scent in mind, and I just prefer that one much more. Olfactory moment of pause trophy! ;)

How beautifully this reads. I admit, I’m not familiar with this one either. I definitely need to change that, because this natural scent really appeals to me as a forest walker :)
