Cruella de Vil

Hello, I’m new and would like to share my opinion on the highly praised Hypnotic Poison, even though many have already done so.

I have tested many fragrances... A few days ago, I tried Hypnotic Poison for the very first time because it has such great reviews and the scent components really appeal to me.
What can I say, I was absolutely shocked... It is described as a warm, seductive fragrance with gourmand oriental notes and said to be vanilla, almond, and a man magnet... (I don’t understand how anyone could be attracted to such a scent)

So I first tested it on a cloth and was overwhelmed by a floral bouquet.
OK, I thought, maybe it will come across differently on skin, but unfortunately no... No trace of vanilla or coconut or almond. I had an urgent need to wash it off, it overstimulated my olfactory senses. I didn’t do it, wanting to give the poison a chance, but unfortunately, it didn’t get any better.
I can’t even describe the progression because it simply had none for me.
Except for my own feelings, nothing changed, and despite sniffing my wrist every 5 minutes, after all, it couldn’t possibly be what I was smelling, nothing improved at all. It was overwhelming, almost coma-inducing.
6 hours later, I could tolerate it, but I wouldn’t call it a pleasant fragrance.

With this scent, I imagine a somewhat sturdier woman (I know, Cruella is rather gaunt) of advanced age with black permed, highly teased hair, bright red fingernails and lipstick, a bit too much blush, and blue eyeshadow, strutting around in a fur coat. That’s Hypnotic Poison for me...
Over-the-top, loud, and more show than substance.

Unfortunately! I would have loved to like it ????

Please don’t lynch me, this is really just my feeling. For those who love this fragrance, I’m very happy for you.

You won't get lynched; I think a bonfire would be more appropriate. Just kidding... I believe you need the right moment to discover this scent. When it first came out, I found it terrible and wrinkled my nose at it. Back then, I was in the phase of falling in love, getting engaged, marrying, and nesting, so such a powerful fragrance didn’t suit me. Now... twenty years later... happily divorced, kid out of the house, independent... I can wear it, BUT it’s all about the dose; otherwise, it can be overwhelming.

I also find it terrible... but everyone should be allowed to share their opinion... many scents I like have been criticized here too... who cares...

No one will lynch you :o) Beautifully described, how the scent shocked you. Unique fragrances really do polarize. You either love them or hate them. At least it got you to write your first comment.

Hypnotic Poison is definitely a very intense fragrance that smells of artificial vanilla. It's not subtle at all and less suitable for those who prefer delicate, natural scents. A similar (and very affordable) option available at DM is Spirit of Cashmere Musk.
