About taste, one can famously argue
I have been rather disappointed by Dior lately, regarding new releases and also discontinuations, e.g. Midnight Poison or many of the Miss Diors. Once you fall in love with a version, you can't be sure that it will still be available in a few years.
This also applies to J'adore L'Absolu. I once had the 2007 version, a lush sensual creation that I really liked. I never owned the 2014 version myself, but I found it very successful. And one day, I missed my Absolu from back then.
And now, there’s already a new one, and I am quite annoyed. But, one wouldn’t be a Parfumo if one didn’t take the plunge and try the scent on my skin.
And I must agree with my previous commenter, at first it’s a floral overkill of the finest kind! Otherwise, I perceive the scent quite differently, although I can certainly understand her disappointment.
I have to filter out the individual flowers, but for me, over time, the jasmine flower prevails, while rose and magnolia fade into the background. A slight freshness also crystallizes, with the orange blossom making its presence known!
I’ll say right away, jasmine and orange blossom lovers will enjoy this slightly soapy scent! For everyone else, it might be "too much" in terms of flowers. I don’t find J'adore L'Absolu too sweet at all, but rather a beautiful balancing act between fresh-fruity and floral-sensual, with a lightly woody finish.
This contrast makes this new variant something special, as it is both suitable for everyday wear and unobtrusive, yet refined, elegant, and sensual! The golden nectar-like liquid fits perfectly!
I find this Absolu far less lush than its predecessors, which seems to be a sign of modernization. It lacks tuberose and ylang-ylang, which prevents this scent from becoming too intensely sweet. However, the longevity is quite satisfactory. The DNA traces from the regular J'adore are only vaguely discernible, in the L'Absolu from 2007 they were more pronounced.
If J'adore L'Or is too heavy and too expensive for you, you might want to give this new Absolu a try.
I really find this reinterpretation from 2018 successful and wear it very gladly; it will surely fit even better in the coming spring.
However, one cannot be sure how long this version will remain on the market. The jasmine and rose fields from Grasse will surely be harvested one day, and then something new will probably come along!

The scent isn't for me, and I could easily tell that. That's how it should be 😉
Too much is not enough....**
I have the one from 2014 and I think it's pretty good.
Sounds great, but you're right... you never know how long it will be on the market. A few days ago, I ordered the L'Or and I'm already excited :-) Best, Anna
