Ultra Male but in a Dior bottle, what were they thinking?

I really love the Dior Homme line of fragrances, i own a bottle of the original EDT and 2 bottles of Intense; so i went into this expecting to REALLY love it.

I also had even more reason to love it because they said it is absolutely nothing like the old one, which smelled like stale gym underwear and leather to my nose.

So the moment i saw it at a boutique, I knew i had to bathe in a cloud of this stuff. The excitement was real. Up until i bathed in a cloud of it. And that is when a variety of emotions overcame me.

So the day i encountered this charismatic bottle at a boutique finally arrived and at last; i fulfilled my plans of "bathing in it". Well? do i like it? I definitely like it more than the old underwear + iris accord of the 2014 fragrance. This is literally how Ultra Male smelled in 2015. With a microscopic touch of Iris.

From the first spray to the drydown, the similarities with an old batch of Ultra Male are uncanny. Starting with the very juicy synthetic pear, all the way to the camphoraceous and refreshing lavender & mint. Finishing off with more patchouli than vanilla. There is barely, if any Dior Homme here. The Iris is so subtle that most people could barely notice it was even there.

I love it because it's such a departure from the original which i find unrelentingly awful, but i also hate it because it's just Ultra Male + a microscopic trace of the pre-2020 Homme EDT in a Dior bottle.

Still wouldn't buy it tho, it's not powdery / chocolatey enough for me.
