The Magic is Gone
As a fan of Francis' scents and of Gris Dior I had high hopes for this fragrance. I've been wearing it for about two hours now and so far I'm disappointed.
The original Gris Dior opens with fresh light airy citrus, transforms into damp earth, and then dries down into a most incredible sparkling rose.
Gris Dior Esprit opens with a strong citrus, so strong it's comparable to lemon scented furniture polish, after two hours this scent has transformed only slightly into a warmer woodier lemon scented furniture polish. I'm not getting any of the rose, any of the patchouli. The magic of Gris has been totally stripped away.
I can only hope that it continues to develop and that a spark of the magic returns.
Update: Nearly four hours in now, the lemon has started to fade to a slightly musky woody amber. Still no sign of the rose.
Update #2: It's now been nearly 10 hours. The rose started to come in around 4 hours ago but it's so muddied it's hard to pick out.
