Velvet Desert Oud Dolce & Gabbana 2013 Eau de Parfum

Reluctantly, a chimera rises on my skin. More god than beast. A hybrid of beast and man. It transforms me. Soothing animalistic accords of oud and musk break through the order of the pyramid. The Sphinx rises. Awakens to life. Powerful and noble, majestic. The shimmering heat of the desert captured in a composition. Playfully lurking, the lion's body swishes its tail in the sand. Whirling and conjuring irritatingly fresh, slightly sour yet also sweet visions. A mirage, captured in the bottle. Subtle smoke underlines and is never sacred or dominant. Respectful. It concludes the metamorphosis. For now. And sends forth, something more than a human, into the day. Guided by the sun, Ra, Sol or one of its thousand names in history or on other worlds. With each step, I feel the spirit of the chimera, the breath of the Sphinx. The guardian of time, who only after hours moves into a warm, woody ambiance, waiting for its renewed awakening.

Because this fragrance deserves more history, vision, and poetry than we have been able to find here so far. Sweetsmell transported me to the mystical Orient, to the desert near Giza.
