Delicious Vanilla Powder
After winter finally arrived, I was suddenly overcome with a craving for vanilla. Since I know that this raw gourmand desire is always very short-lived for me, I thought to myself, this Dr. Taffi costs 15 euros, which won't hurt at all if the vanilla turns out to be a dud. And just recently, I had read some nice comments about Dr. Taffi fragrances on American websites, so I chose this Italian brand with ambitions in natural cosmetics for my blind buy.
Now to the scent: At first, I was startled, and then I chuckled awkwardly to grant myself absolution because I thought - this was definitely not it with Dr. Taffi's vanilla. Because right after spraying, Velluto Vanilla is very sweet. Sweeter than all the other vanilla scents I have tested. However, I have tested even sweeter gourmands.
VV is initially vanilla and caramel galore, and I can also smell cardamom. Otherwise, nothing. However, the extreme sweetness fades quite quickly, hooray! Adios cardamom and caramel, and the scent becomes powdery. That was already the, uh, progression. Then Velluto Vanilla is just a sweet, powdery vanilla scent. But that’s okay, quite the opposite, because this very vanilla cookie powder makes me happy at the moment. It doesn’t smell artificial and also lasts excellently.
Yesterday, I wore Vanille Exquise by Annick Goutal for a counter-test. A very nice, rather unsweet vanilla scent. And much more sophisticated. And that’s exactly why it’s not suitable for me right now. I’m continuing to savor this short gourmand phase - today again with Velluto Vanilla.
