Amber, Benzoin, and Labdanum. Exactly my thing. And here they play perfectly together. Benzoin gives this beautiful boozy note that, with a slight sweetness, optimally highlights the warm, resinous aspects of the amber and labdanum.
For me, true amber, like oud, is always a glimpse over the shoulder of the perfumer. A participation in their discovery. The extraction of the soul of this special ingredient. The nuances in amber vary not only in colors and qualities but also from chunk to chunk. Just like with oud, from tree to tree.
Here, amber radiates a golden hue and with a naturalness that constantly reminds me of how wonderful such natural, yet rare, ingredients can truly be when skillfully combined and processed.
The high concentration of labdanum resin resonates in harmony with the amber and also acts as a carrier for the sometimes quite fleeting nuances of the gold of the seas. The combination with vanilla gives the fragrance a twist towards sweet-amber-spicy, yet it still does not turn into a resin gourmand.
Labdanum from MGO is the warm, golden sunset in front of a small shepherd's hut in Crete. The sea in view and the "resin harvest" of the day, combed from the fur of the goats, lies next to me on the old, brittle wooden table.
