Unusual Comforting Fougère
Starts dark green and mossy with a rather soapy than hesperidic freshness, in the transition to the heart the mandarin becomes more present, but the soapy-green guardrails routinely guide the way. As it progresses, only very shy floral notes emerge; I had expected the osmanthus to be more dominant. But here, the softly hinted presence fits wonderfully into the transition to the patchouli, which has been tamed of its roughness thanks to the vanilla. The scent now becomes earthier, heavier, and more complex; the fresh soapiness gives way to a warm, deep, and fortunately only slightly honey-sweet creaminess. Indeed, the tobacco makes an appearance at the end. I wouldn't have needed it, but it doesn't ruin anything either. Overall, an extraordinarily beautiful, harmonious, and well-thought-out composition. Certainly not a classic fougère, but a successful one.
