We could`ve had something

Bigarade lured me on with the most juicy, freshly skinned orange. Heck, I could even feel the zest that got stuck under my impatient fingernails which rushed to peel this beauty. Then, the cardamom starts to come on the scene, and I am excited, as I do love me some cardamom. But, here, it really needs a duck to be rubbed on and be put in the oven asap. It feels savory enough for that, but as a perfume, I`m not sure. The foodie and the fragrance lovers in me are conflicted. It`s a beautiful marinade, but the cardamom-pepper are just a bit much, there`s a dusty bitterness that feels somewhat out of place as the perfume evolves. At times, it almost feels like a sweaty athlete has tried to cover his BO with a citrus cologne but suceeded only partway.

Culinary spices that I love to cook with, don't work well for me as fragrance notes. I religiously avoid fragrances that contain saffron, ginger, cumin, coriander, fenugreek,..... Well, basically anything that I can find in the Indian grocery store.

That`s interesting because in my case I adore the spices and greens that go into the cuisines I grew up with, when I run into them in perfumery. Cumin is the tricky one for me, but it really depends on how it`s blended.
