Oakmoss Steals The Show

On first spray, magnolia and citrus dance about, reminding me of a nice floral handsoap that you would keep in the kitchen. After a few minutes I smell a persistent, jealous third to this throuple. Oh. Hi, Oakmoss.

I like oakmoss, okay? It has a nice... wholeness about it. It is a very reliable base note, and brings a much needed longevity to the more volatile (and frankly beautiful) notes like (for example) magnolia and grapefruit. Frankly it's tough to escape from oakmoss, but I'm not trying to escape in the first place...

Anyways, as the magnolia and citrus sneak away, I am left with a nice residue of woody oakmoss, marked by a sourness that I cannot a source of. Maybe it's the vetiver. However, by the 3rd hour, all that is left on my skin is an unremarkable perfume base. Bye bye, magnolia.
