I was at my favorite perfume store for my birthday, looking for an evening scent for the summer. After 30 minutes, the saleswoman was already quite annoyed. I can be picky.
But no. Today I want to share a somewhat controversial opinion. I had known the brand Frederic Malle for a while and liked some of their fragrances, and since "Portrait of a Lady" has such good reviews, I really wanted to test it. On the test strip, I initially found it beautiful. Sweet, rose, floral, dark. I thought to myself, I’ll take it! Until I sprayed it on my skin. On my skin, at least, it smells like musty basement for the first 2-3 hours. After that, it finally becomes a nice wearable rose scent for me. It’s probably the incense and the clove that I don’t like. If I’m already spending €225-325 on a fragrance, I want to like it right away, not just after 3 hours. Certainly a beautiful scent for anyone who wants to stand out. Unisex in my opinion. Also suitable for a summer evening, but just not for me.
The longevity and sillage are brutal for a rose scent. It lasts Fooooorever.
