Shower in the Rainforest

Anyone trekking through the rainforest in full explorer gear with a tropical helmet and machete, enduring what feels like unbearable heat, is surely wishing for a refreshing shower now and then. Eau Papaguéna brings this warm, wet shower that quickly evaporates and does not make the heat any more bearable.

At first, ripe grapefruit juice rains down with a decent sweetness from fruit sugars, mixing with a slightly sour bergamot. This creates a tropical, syrupy orange that releases its aromatic citrus oils when freshly peeled. Following this, a hint of dry wood and vetiver becomes noticeable, and the scent, which initially evoked thoughts of a colorful rainforest in midsummer, turns sharply clean. The cardamom complements the woody orange peel and adds another exotic dimension to the fragrance. Up to this point, I find the scent only moderately appealing. I attribute this to its artificiality, which strikes an extreme citrus chord and disrupts the balance. However, I also perceive some pleasant natural (certainly high-quality) notes.
The fragrance continues to undergo a transformation. Unexpectedly, another scent joins in, leading it in a completely different direction: an extremely inconspicuous smoky-animalic component that has character. I think of withered fruits being eaten by small wildcats.
Unfortunately, the fragrance then shifts in the dry down to something generic and pleasing, leaving a rather unremarkable impression.

Although the scent ultimately did not convince me, I am impressed by its successful development into depth. It would be nice if this hinted jungle scenery could be more pronounced and intense. But of course, the explorer also wants to find their way out of the underbrush...
