In the Jungle, the Monkeys Scream

Eau Papaguéna is the first fragrance from the Wanderpaket of the five Elisire scents. I had never heard of these fragrances before, but they already make a good impression with their packaging and description. Prompted by another fragrance-obsessed friend, I also get to enjoy these scents :D

According to its description, this fragrance is supposed to reflect the characteristic diversity of lush nature, especially that of a tropical forest. This might sound a bit sultry and stuffy, and to be honest, the fragrance does have a slightly humid beginning, but it becomes really nice and quite fresh afterwards, so I liked it.

This means that the fragrance should be perfect for warm days!

**The Fragrance:**
The opening is fruity-fresh, with the cardamom coming across as a bit unusual, but it's not bad. The neroli absolute feels sultry, but it’s not really heavy, as the fragrance gives an overall relaxed impression. After that, it smells a little like a Nimm2 candy or something similar, flavor Tropical :)
But don’t run away just because I mentioned candy; keep reading :D
Anyway, the fragrance remains fresh and fruity in the heart note, with the orange blossoms and green-floral notes in the background being the most prominent. The citrus notes, especially bergamot, can still be faintly detected, which keeps the fragrance fresher.
Over time, the fragrance becomes a bit sweeter, likely due to the ambroxan.
The base mainly consists of beautifully woody-scented cypress. Frankincense, well, I don’t know, is present in very small amounts, and I couldn’t distinctly filter out the vetiver either. A little later in the base, the neroli gradually fades, allowing the fresher and more citrusy notes to shine again, making the fragrance smell fresher, especially towards the end.

**The Sillage and Longevity:**
Despite the sultry neroli and cardamom, the fragrance is rather fresh and relaxed, so it doesn’t have a particularly strong sillage. At first, it will be pleasant to smell, but gradually it loses its strength in terms of sillage.
Actually, the fragrance lasts about eight hours, but it becomes hardly detectable after three to four hours, as it really weakens then.

**The Bottle:**
The bottle is rectangular, somewhat angular, and has a thick base. It is filled with yellowish fragrance liquid. The cap is cylindrical on the bottom and is wrapped with a yellow band. On the top, it features a multi-faceted object that looks like a crystal or gemstone. I think the bottle is quite well done.

The fragrance conveys a good impression of tropical-exotic regions, as it smells somewhat sultry and exotic-fruity, but it’s not as heavy as one might expect. Still, as mentioned, especially at the beginning, one can very well imagine tropical forests with clean rivers, lush vegetation, and screeching monkeys…. argh, I meant howler monkeys :D

And of course, not to forget all the mosquitoes… those biting pests are everywhere here and especially want to bite me… waah, can’t a perfume lover bite me for a change *sigh*
Wait… woe to anyone who says that only female mosquitoes bite and that I should be satisfied… Aaaaargh!!! I will never write here again!!!

Anyway!
Towards the end, as described, it even becomes fresher again and will surely feel good on warm days. It’s nice that all the fragrance components come across as very natural, and you can’t detect anything synthetic. In terms of scent, it fits well in spring, but in summer, it might not be usable at 30 degrees, as it is relaxed and pleasant, but not really refreshing.

Even if it later smells like many other fragrances (but one must also say that nowadays all fragrances are extremely similar, even niche fragrances can smell like mass-market fragrances and vice versa, after all, it must be difficult to create something completely new with the amount of available scents that hasn’t been done before…), the beginning, that is, the top note, is already a bit different. At least for me, which I found unusual but also nice.

In my opinion, it’s a fragrance that one should try if one enjoys a slightly sultry neroli as well as citrus notes.

If it says Ambrox, then no? Or is it just used homeopathically?
