New York, New York, the second attempt!

Hey guys, how are you? I hope you are all healthy! Anyway, here comes another new comment from me. And this time it's about a fragrance for which I need to correct a little mistake of mine :D

I wrote in my comment about the "5th Avenue" (EDP) by Elizabeth Arden not long ago that a dear perfumer had asked me to comment on this fragrance. Unfortunately, I then mixed up the scents because she never said 5th Avenue EDP, but the fragrance "My Fifth Avenue," so this fragrance here. And when I published the comment on 5th Avenue, she complained quite a bit to me, so I have to correct the mistake!

Well, whether she really complained, I can’t remember anymore, because so many perfumers are complaining at me or threatening to behead me that I’m losing track :D What is strange, though, is that I’m not writing as many risqué things as I used to or insulting you, right? But you are of course never satisfied and don’t even recognize that I can be nice sometimes, you are all so silly!!! :DD

But okay, let’s get to the fragrance. Here, too, New York is of course in the spotlight, or more precisely, the famous (and expensive) street 5th Avenue. To this place, over ten fragrances by Elizabeth Arden have been released, so it’s no wonder that I mixed up the scents! Otherwise, as I wrote back then, the attempt is to capture the essence of this street in New York, with all its luxury, radiance, beauty, elegance, and, as is often expressed in such cases, with all its energy (… energy… it’s only missing that someone says that the crackling energy is present and palpable everywhere… just like the Force in Star Wars, mu ha ha ha :DDD).

Okay, enough talking. I’ll quickly make sure that I really have the right fragrance in my hands and spray it on!

**The fragrance:**
The fragrance starts citrusy with lemons and mandarins. But floral notes also seem to be present right from the start. I’m guessing violet, as I perceive its gentle and slightly powdery scent, as well as lotus. Yes, I’m not very knowledgeable about plants, but I think I recognize the lotus because it was also included in the Rituals Tam Dao products I once used, and that’s why the scent seems so familiar to me (so if you were wondering where I know lotus from… :D). However, the lotus scent comes across as a bit weaker here, but it still smells nice. Jasmine gives off its pleasant sweetness and smells more authentic here than in many other fragrances, where jasmine can sometimes come across as overly sweet (I find that jasmine can sometimes radiate quite differently, or is it just me??).
It remains fresh and citrusy, with the citrus now coming more from the mandarin. To be precise, I would even say "mandarin peel," as the scent resembles a slightly bitter peel (specifically from the inside, as if you’ve peeled the fruit). The sweet scent of jasmine, which was not particularly strong anyway, is increasingly replaced by the "darker" sweetness of musk. In the background, there’s a slightly fruity scent, which could be pear, but I must admit that I would never have guessed pear if I hadn’t read that pears are supposed to be in here.
A little later, the fragrance becomes noticeably more floral, and it smells of blooming flowers, while the citrus notes slowly fade away. What exactly you smell now, well, I can describe that poorly again, but I would still lean towards jasmine, which is starting to smell more intense again. With the floral notes, which, as mentioned, smell more intense, the fragrance takes on a slightly sultry note (for you ladies, this may come across differently and more pleasingly, it’s just my perception of floral scents), at least until a slight sweetness appears again with the amber/musk mix. Nevertheless, I find the base a bit simplistic, but it still comes across nicely.
Only very late, in the late base (after a few hours), does the fragrance start to smell a bit suffocatingly floral for me, which I like less.

**The sillage and longevity:**
The sillage is okay and falls within the average range. It is noticeable if you’re not standing too far away. I found the longevity to be quite good at about eight hours.

**The bottle:**
The bottle is rectangular and tall. At first glance, it may look like a normal, tall standard bottle, but it was intentionally designed to be tall to resemble the skyscrapers in New York. A nice bottle, simple but good.

**Conclusion:**
So, well, with that, I have now tested the right fragrance. Let me quickly check the database on Parfumo to see if it really is the right fragrance and… ho ho,… there seem to be 352 fragrances with "5th Avenue" in the name… argh :D But since I received the sample or decant from the perfumer herself, I’ll assume it was the right fragrance :))

Anyway, I liked the fragrance. It is fresh and floral-sweet. I like that the citrus notes do not fade too quickly and the floral scents do not become stuffy too quickly. The only thing I find a bit simple is the base, as it still smells nice, but for me, it comes across a bit like a (well-made) 0815 floral fragrance. If that bothers you, you can always give it another spray, as the top note and the heart smell really good. Only the late base doesn’t appeal to me at all, as the fragrance then came across as a bit too stuffy, which I really don’t like in such fragrances.

Otherwise, as mentioned, the fragrance is fresh and fits very well for summer, making it a nice daytime scent. You can give it a try, as it works well as a daily companion. A quick, uncomplicated fragrance that smells nice and where you don’t have to think long if you’re unsure what to spray on :)

Well, that’s it again. I wish you all a lovely evening and see you then :)

Beautiful and very vivid description of this fragrance. With the Fifth Avenue scents, it's really hard to keep track! By the way, I've been reading your comments for a long time, just never could give any trophies because I was only a silent reader and not registered. :-)

Jasmine can smell heavenly and as indolic as ...S.....weet, at least for me. If I spell it out correctly, I get unladylike, or rather: silly insults from real ladies.
