Worldly Woman!?
I don't like the name Mondain. It is supposed to represent a very worldly, fashion-conscious woman. Mondain sounds somehow arrogant and pretentious to me. That's why I initially didn't want to order this fragrance. But since I was in the mood to order, I went ahead and ordered all the scents from Emossence; what did I have to lose? You can test them and return them if you don't like them. Yes, well, in the perfumery, you usually only test the top note, maybe buy it, and once opened, you often can't return it. I have been disappointed by that more than once.
Funny, or rather strange, was that the test vial was filled with the wrong fragrance. There were also many complaints and according to customer reviews, many returns. Now, I do have experience with fragrances, and the scent in the test vial did not match the description at all. It actually smelled like nothing. I also wanted to return it. But my curiosity was so great; I wanted to get to the bottom of it. Therefore, I opened the original bottle. And lo and behold, my feeling was right. A completely different scent wafted towards me. Yes, and just as described.
Absolutely wonderful, right from the top note, the jasmine opens this perfume. Jasmine is THE component in the fragrance; it is accompanied, as described in the fragrance pyramid, by slightly spicy elements. It is seductive, sensual, erotic, oriental. I wouldn't say it is sweet, although jasmine does have a slightly sweet scent, but the spicy notes like licorice, clove, and cinnamon soften the sweetness; it is very warm, a bit like being in a bazaar.
So, you don't have to be dressed fashionably for this. For me, the name is simply inappropriate because I find this scent very natural and well-executed, unlike many fragrances from the perfumery. I currently perceive almost all of them as rather artificial. My search there has often disappointed me, and then the prices, wow, they really knock you out. Well, the Emossence fragrances are not cheap either. They are of high quality; you can really smell the jasmine and the spices, which I can personally identify with.
I also contacted Mr. Bourrat, and there are real essences contained; that is important to me, and you can smell it and, above all, you can feel it!
Here too, two thumbs up!
