Mandarin Kickstart with Close-to-Skin Longevity
First of all, I would like to clarify a type question: I am generally the type for harmonious, balanced, and well-thought-out fragrances, as I am sanguine by nature and predominantly navigate life diplomatically. And I believe that our choice of fragrance is largely influenced by our character. So you know the nature and extent of my subjectivity.
In fact, August was a blind purchase, motivated by a combination of the similarity to Aqua Universalis Forte by MFK mentioned in previous comments and the fear of not being able to get this fragrance due to its limited edition. I ordered online from the homepage of 1000 & 1 Seife and experienced my first surprise: Mr. Kormann personally called me and passionately described August to me again. He also asked me which samples I would like to receive. This not only made me like August, but also the entire house, so I will definitely visit the store gallery in the Hackeschen Höfen in person in the future.
But now to the fragrance. I have tested it often. First on a strip. Then in everyday life. Overnight on my wrist and even during sports. I wanted to find out how it unfolds its scent under different conditions. Here are the results:
The opening is, as already described, very fruity. The mandarin immediately makes its way through the nose to the head. I like to wear it in the morning for work because it gives me an energetic feeling. The sillage is immense and does not lose any volume - foreshadowing the further development of the fragrance. This feeling of energy also remains, which impresses me greatly.
Upon reaching the heart note, August takes a different path for me than what Mr. Kormann described and what my predecessors have conveyed. Lily of the valley, as I perceive it very successfully in the aforementioned Aqua Universalis Forte, hardly reveals itself on my skin. However, this is by no means bad; I just feel like I am missing the heart that was aptly described by my predecessors in this fragrance.
Because after the spectacular kickstart, I land directly on the described base, which is filled with musk and Iso-E-Super. And that was the second surprise: I have only been intensively dealing with perfumes for a few months, which is why this is my first experience with Iso-E-Super. On my skin, the fragrance ingredient unfolds its effect (see some comments on Molecule 1 by Escentric Molecules). And in combination with the musk, it develops a very intense, not at all intrusive, rather subtly masculine and natural scent that is new to me. The mandarin does become weaker, but it counteracts the increasingly close-to-skin base, so August always retains its heady charm.
The longevity should also be mentioned at this point. Which brings me to surprise number three: It lasts on me for 10 hours plus. Even after getting up and after the shower (!) I can still perceive the base. Incredible! My mainstream Douglas fragrance repertoire-conditioned nose is not used to this, without devaluing it.
So, anyone looking for a fresh, extremely intense, in my eyes rather masculine fragrance with long-lasting power should definitely try August. Although I associate the scent of mandarins and oranges more with the Christmas season than with summer, that is a minor detail. Because August is - as already mentioned - suitable for any season.

Really well written and enticing. Since Eau de Waschsalon, I've developed a taste for ISO E Super. Awesome stuff...

The creamy heart note is a bit too sweet for my taste. However, my wife is absolutely thrilled. My next comment will be about September, but August still deserves a shout-out. It's the beauty of using resources sparingly.

Great first comment! I ordered a sample of this (and a few others) from Mr. Kormann yesterday and I'm excited!
