Farewell to Summer

The Escada LEs are intentionally designed as "summer fragrances" - a new one every year. And every year I buy the latest, even though in recent years they have not been as distinctive and individual as before 2001. I use them from May to August, with one exception: I always save "Rock in Rio" for a warm September day.
I can't even say exactly why this one, because like all the newer ones in the series, RiR smells like a sweet fruit punch, especially here like a salad of tropical fruits garnished with a bit of coconut flakes, sweet, fruity, exotic, initially with a zesty acidity. And from my perspective, it is still one of the best in the series.

It allows me to relive the most beautiful aspects of summer, which is not really "my season": balmy evenings with friends on the porch (yes, even some chatterboxes actually have friends!), with a fruit cocktail or a fruity white wine or rosé in hand. Sometimes after a barbecue evening or a visit to a friend's parents' pool, or even in our card game circle.

I then push aside the negative side effects of summer (perhaps not all of them in 2017) - mosquitoes, pesky wasps, sleepless nights due to the heat, dry grass in the garden due to lack of water, and leaves falling too early.

This year I unfortunately missed the perfect time for "Rock in Rio"... autumn came earlier than expected!

No, RiR is not much different from the other newer Escada LEs: summery, fruity-sweet, uncomplicated. But in its own way, beautiful.

I'm usually not into fruity scents. But I really like the old Escadas! Not so much the new ones.

No, nothing like that happened here. The wasps are really sweet and tame. There aren't many bees either. Wasps feed their larvae with flies and mosquitoes, and they only gather sweets and wood for the winter. I feed them with a plate of sugar cubes when they get annoying, in a spot where they don't feel threatened. Then it's peaceful. But the scent is definitely not for me. **Trophy**
