Once again, a blind buy that went wrong. Based on the comments and Luca Turin's praise, I wanted to get something nice for everyday wear, and since I generally like Estée Lauder fragrances, I thought I would enjoy this one.
The opening is repulsive and indefinable. I thought Hermi had handed me a turned fragrance (sorry Hermi!). Aldehydic-bitter, cinnamon-like, tuberose-like, and indecisive.
At some point, the promised rose breaks through, and the fragrance becomes relatively pleasant, but still too unremarkable and agreeable for my taste. The base is typical for Lauder and somewhat reminiscent of Azurée. Vetiver adds a bit more character to the fragrance.
For once, I will refrain from giving a rating...
Autumna .... did you comment on the current version of Beautiful or the vintage one? I have the new one and I don't recognize my Beautiful in your description.
At first, I had splash bottles and loved the scent, then I got a 75ml spray bottle: overwhelming. Now I've decanted some into a small dropper: that's it! The spray nozzle releases way too much. See below for my updated comment.
The scent must have undergone a terrible reformulation. My mini sample EDP smells wonderful. Beautiful was unusually expensive back then! 15ml for about DM 60.00!!
Oh, I often feel that way with blind buys. I only vaguely remember Beautiful, and I don't think it was for me. Although I do like many Lauder fragrances.
