Fleur Narcotique Ex Nihilo 2022 Extrait de Parfum

I just can’t warm up to Ex Nihilo. Some note kills every Ex Nihilo fragrance for me.‍️ I really wanted to test a floral scent. I usually only have oriental/spicy fragrances, and now I wanted at least one floral scent on my shelf.

The fragrance starts off very, very feminine, and luckily I don’t smell the lychee at all. I absolutely dislike lychee, but for some reason, the perfumers at Ex Nihilo seem to love it, as this note unfortunately appears in several of their perfumes.

From the very beginning, I smell a super feminine jasmine scent with edges and contours. Osmanthus adds a bit of tension, and the peony is very present. The fragrance simply smells really good. Not particularly innovative or super exciting, but just so feminine and so well-groomed. It’s actually what I was looking for as a counterpoint to my dark/spicy fragrances..

When I sprayed the fragrance, I thought Yes, you’re taking this one home immediately. Hyper-feminine floral without being boring. Moreover, you could really smell the high quality. Just to be sure, I sprayed myself just like I would at home and went for a 1-hour walk in the fresh air. Luckily, I didn’t buy this fragrance because the drydown is an absolute horror for me. In the drydown, a horrible, very green, biting note emerges that burns the nose quite a bit. The flowers are gone, and instead, there’s an overload of very green moss with a very piercing, unpleasant musk note… Uff, this combination of green moss and piercing musk is really unbearable.. Everyone surely knows that burning sensation in the nose when you inhale dry ice, like when it’s used as a stage effect at a concert. So slightly smoky/burning. That’s exactly the feeling I have with this fragrance in the drydown.. I have the same burning sensation in the late drydown of the regular Delina..
