"Pompon" is a floral scent that I love. Uncomplicated and with at least imperceptible vanilla, it has a rather rare floral character.
A glass bottle etched with hydrofluoric acid in the shape of an artfully arranged sheaf of grain, its gold-colored cap forms the stems of a pompon. The fringes of the pompon continue pressed onto the neck of the bottle. Only when you associate "Pompon" with the shape of the bottle do you realize what the bottle represents. This is how harvested sheaves were once tied and stood to dry in the fields.
The fragrance opens with a spicy note very close to the skin. Then follows a floral mixture with summery opulence, where garden carnation flowers and roses, along with other spices, take the lead. But bergamot and the tart blackcurrant also harmoniously blend with the flowers and spices. The mélange is underscored by ylang-ylang, which, as I perceive it, makes the carnation flowers sweeter and fresher.
After an hour, close to the skin, warm woody notes develop, and later on, balsamic resin notes join in.
"Pompon" represents the scent of the flower beds of a cottage garden. A rural, everyday-wearable EdT dominated by cottage garden flowers. For an EdT, Pompon is very strong and has good longevity.
It lingers in the air like a light warm summer breeze, familiar to the nose. Not a delicate airy fragrance creature, but a grounded, carefree, cheerful scent being is Pompon. Pompon evokes romantic images of country life in summer. Unfortunately, I only had a mini of it. Should a bottle ever come within reach, I will not hesitate to acquire it.
