Bottled Memory
Opens with an initial blast of tart rhubarb and sharp greens. In 30 min it fades to a much closer, sweeter note reminiscent of lemon candy, with gentle hints of spruce beneath.
The dry down is absolutely gorgeous for those who love forest fragrances. Fir notes are often too harsh or artificial for my nose, but this is delicate and realistic, like walking through the woods in spring and lightly crushing fallen fir needles beneath your feet. The amber and asphalt are subtle background notes, grounding the forest in reality.
Somehow the entire experience evokes a very clear and comforting memory of place, even though it’s not mine. All credit to perfumer Jón Þór Birgisson, who has truly captured a moment in time.
