There are indeed some of us Parfumos who do not howl with the LVEB or LPRN wolves. By this, I mean not only the sugary sweet fragrances but also, by the way, the rampant abbreviation craze that annoys me not only at Parfumo. I think it takes time to pronounce or write out what needs to be expressed. But maybe I’m just old-fashioned, and that’s not really what this comment is about.
I want to encourage all Parfumos who can still be excited about fragrances that are so completely different to try 1976 by Floris. I’m currently thinking about which perfumes I wore in the 70s and whether Floris might have dedicated this new fragrance as a homage to them. I can think of: Alliage, Fashion by Leonard, Coriandre, Via Lanvin, Aromatics Elixir. All are herbaceous, some a little bit prickly, certainly not pleasing, and definitely not sweet and floral. And yes, even though 1976 is not as loud as the aforementioned, I would have definitely liked it as a daytime fragrance back then, and I still do today. In this respect, the name of the fragrance is programmatic.
Green-spicy, with a softer base note than the fragrances back then with the inevitable oakmoss drydown, that’s how I experience the scent and I’m thrilled that such a thing is available again. I don’t know which joker clicked on woody-oriental. That’s nonsense, and I think it wasn’t really meant seriously. 1976 is a bitter, gray-green unisex fragrance with subtle elegance and skillful understatement. It surely won’t be a bestseller, but I can imagine it will find loyal followers. I am one of them, and of course, I now have 1976 on my wish list.
Addendum: I must apologize to the unknown user who clicked on woody-oriental. They copied the classification from the Floris website, as the fragrance is indeed described that way there. One more reason to test Floris 1976 for yourself!!!
As a beginner, I didn't know many abbreviations, and there are still some I don't know. I've asked the writer a few times, but never got a response. Oh well...

Caught! I also like to shorten long fragrance names in comments sometimes. But when I had to really think about what LVEB could be (La vie est belle?), I’ll stop doing that from now on. Thanks for the food for thought! As for the scent itself, I can't say much, other than that it wouldn't really match my nature/preferences. But I'm happy for you about the lovely discovery!
I'm also one of those "old-fashioned types" and find this constant abbreviation to be a bad habit. At work, when there's a lot to write, it's fine to shorten notes for convenience, but otherwise, it doesn't really need to be that way. I might also like the scent.
I'm not really into abbreviations either, especially since I always have to guess what they might mean :).
I'm definitely part of the sweet floral and gourmand crowd, but sometimes after too many sweets, I'm in the mood for something more bitter :).
I admit it - I've shortened names of perfumes with long titles too. Simply because it can be annoying sometimes. *g* But I promise to do better, because in real life, it also annoys me when people use childish abbreviations like Kindi (kindergarten), Hausi (homework), or - the worst - SCHLAFI for pajamas or Fleeci (fleece jacket). It's cute with little kids, but with adults????? It's reassuring that others find it annoying too; I thought I was the only one.
Thanks for bringing up the topic of abbreviations. It bothers me too, because I usually don’t know what they mean. But I’ve never dared to admit it, hehe.
Ah, finally someone who is as tired of this abbreviation craze as I am! I constantly come across new absurd abbreviations for the most trivial things at work. With an abbreviation, the speaker or writer can indirectly present themselves as an expert. Some people really need that... As for the scent - I’ll keep it in mind from now on. At least "woody" can't be read from the pyramid. Oriental? Because of patchouli + vetiver? (Just saying) Even I can find oak moss pleasant at Floris. Abbreviations? I don't get it, because now you just need to highlight/copy the fragrance name once, preferably with quotation marks, and you can use it over and over until you highlight/copy something else. It works on a tablet too. But we type it out quickly multiple times, right? :-D Trophy
