A House Just to My Taste?!
Floris London, founded in 1730, is considered, according to my research, to be the oldest
perfume house in the world (Source: www.parfuemerie.de/floris-london).
The founder Juan Famenias Floris, a Spanish immigrant, opened his shop with his wife Elizabeth in the elegant and historic St. James area at 89 Jermyn Street in that year, bringing fragrances, cosmetics, and combs to the English population. It still exists at the same location today, regarded as the luxurious heart of this brand and is carried on by family members in advanced generations. And in the meantime, this small single shop that opened back then has become an internationally recognized and renowned corporation...

I stumbled upon this house about 2 months ago here on Parfumo. The first fragrance from this brand that I was able to call my own was the No.89 EdT. I still find it excellent, but it resembled my Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (2017) too much for my personal taste, so I sold it for that reason.
When I looked at other fragrances from this brand, I first became aware of the Elite EdT. The fragrance pyramid really appealed to me...
"Bergamot? Juniper berries? You can't not like that," I thought about the top notes...
"Lavender? One of my favorite notes!" I was pleased with the heart.
And the base was also full of ingredients that I generally like very much, many of which are among my favorites: Above all, vetiver, moss, and musk...
Unfortunately, at the time of my bottle purchase, there were no sample offers available here in the Souk, and I had no other opportunity to test this fragrance. So I ordered the 100ml blind from allbeauty.com...
The No.89 EdT was also a blind purchase, and so I relied on my gut feeling again, already suspecting that the Elite EdT would match my taste. Fortunately, it did...
I would describe the opening as fresh-citrusy with a lightly fruity nuance, for which the aforementioned bergamot, along with grapefruit and lemon as well as the juniper berries, are responsible. In my eyes, these berries make the top note a very nice opening, which distinguishes it from many other fragrance openings I have encountered in the same direction. However, right from the start, this so-called 'old-school vibe' that I love and appreciate slightly resonates in the background, which I personally find very appealing. This "old-fashioned" swing (absolutely not meant negatively; I am just quoting the description of many other users for this type of fragrance) I attribute particularly to the lavender. Together with the fir balsam, it provides the foresty-floral or herbaceous-bitter and slightly spicy kick after the opening. Ultimately, the base makes this fragrance a wonderfully classic masculine scent for men overall. The moss or vetiver, often used in fougère and chypre perfumes on one side, and the woody cedar note on the other side, I perceive very well. They give the whole thing a woody-earthy character, which I consider the icing on the cake, rounding off the fragrance excellently.
It can undoubtedly be worn all year round and for any occasion, but I personally think spring and autumn would be the most suitable. The longevity is a decent average of about 5 to a maximum of 6 hours; the sillage is very moderate and rather reserved. You don't stand out with a large cloud of fragrance, which suits the scent well in this form and is likely intended by the perfumer.
The bottle feels very good in the hand and is made of thicker glass, transparent and elegantly simple. The liquid is a rich green, so caution may be advised when spraying on clothes.
Conclusion:
I am very happy to have discovered this highly interesting and exciting brand for myself. Because it seems that this house primarily creates fragrances that are just to my taste. The Elite EdT is a great woody-fresh/aromatic and slightly spicy gentleman's fragrance that definitely has class and style. Whether at work, out in the evening, or just for myself at home; when I wear it, I feel absolutely wonderful. It is indeed the kind of fragrance that I feel most connected to or associate with.
The Elite EdT conveys an aura to the wearer that embodies the English Sirs. So anyone who is fond of classic fragrances should definitely take a look at this brand.
