Candied Veil
... this is how I would translate Voile Confit - a truly zesty summer fragrance with fruity-floral and gourmand facets.
But let's take it step by step. The beginning is bursting with vibrant freshness and fruitiness, a statement leaning towards citrusy-green and slightly sour. Then, the almond blossom sneaks in from behind, giving Voile Confit a nice touch of marzipan without going overboard. At times, the almond notes shift with timid woodruff hints, wherever those may come from.
In the not-so-distant progression, vanilla makes its presence known, seeming to push itself more or less beneath the previously mentioned components and initially running parallel for a decent amount of time before settling completely into a soft-sweet base.
It’s no coincidence that Voile Confit reminds me of Yerbamate by Lorenzo Villoresi, just without that questionable hay note, significantly more lasting, and, in my opinion, much more successful.
This brings us closer to the aforementioned Grünofant ice cream from the 70s, even if one might wish for more woodruff, which is absolutely fine in this formulation.
Thus, Voile Confit unveils a truly summery veil that is not everyday but significantly enhances the everyday.
