Leather + Smoke = Successful

When a fragrance bears the name Hearth, it automatically evokes associations and conjures impressions. Is it the crackling and popping fire at night, the cooled fire pit the next day, which emits a faint smoke? Is a meal being prepared over it, or is the fire pit hidden in a cave to conceal itself from someone and for whatever reason? Is it used to ward off predators, or does one warm oneself wrapped in fur against the icy cold?
Well, Hearth is rather warm, without fear of enemies; it’s not a cheerful campfire, but somewhere animalistic as the leather plays a role, specifically as tanned hide, refined by the smoky aroma.

This scent remains largely linear, only gradually diminishing in olfactory perception. Over time, the leather fades. At the beginning, it is very intense, lush, and smells as if freshly treated, filling the space. Accompanying the leather is crackling smoke, which is captured by the very essence and dissolves within it. This melange adds exciting elements to the leather.
The burnt wood is multi-layered. The juniper imparts green-herbaceous elements, while the birch smells as if freshly smoked. Balsamic moments also emerge, which surely was not simple to achieve. Overall, the theme of tobacco and wood has been implemented here in a multifaceted way. Chapeau!

If you give the fragrance one or two hours and do not only consider the diminished intensity, you cannot overlook the vanilla. It gently peeks out and pairs with the smoke. Here, by the way, it is successfully done and not overdone. Thus, the scent becomes more balanced. Subjectively, I appreciate the strong opening; I gladly perceive this evoked power and strength. By the way, when I speak of strength here, I mean it in relation to other creations of the brand. Hearth smells after a few hours like other brand products do after eight hours.

Just a few days ago, I thought that Gather Perfume seemed unreachable for me. Other scents were too weak, too monotonous, perhaps due to their naturalness. Here too, we do not have a sillage monster, although that is naturally to be relativized. A drop is enough for hours and is hardly intended for intense application with 15ml Extrait for 200 USD. If I had to compare the scent, I would choose the drydown of Birch Tar & Russian Leather. The first batch, not the successors.

(With thanks to the smoky Bloodxclat)

This is a really great review, and I'm very curious about the scent that's still waiting for a test. Very nicely and vividly described :D

This scent is definitely very interesting. Especially the "reconciling" finish with musk, rose, jasmine, and vanilla. But somehow I can't shake the - olfactory - image of a Canadian trapper tanning his furs. I'm afraid the scent would be too archaic, too "natural," rough, and raw for me. Even with a companion. I'm more of an urban type... ;-)

I stand by it... for me, this creation is probably too demanding. But I really enjoyed your fine review...

Definitely very exciting, but an eight at that price is a bit meager.

It's a shame that the tobacco doesn't play a bigger role in the scent and is mostly overshadowed by leather and smoke. That would be interesting for me, although the heavy smoke would probably be too intense for me anyway. Beautifully described perfume by you!

While reading, I almost thought it was similar to Matthews Birch Tar & Russian Leather. Sounds good!
