The First Easter

In the shadow of the night, she sneaks along the high stone wall. Past the guards. The small glass vial with the fragrant oil is held tightly in her hand beneath her garment. The garden with its old trees, actually a beautiful place. But now the place of final farewell. Her beloved lies here in the burial cave. She pulls the stopper from the vial. It was only a few days ago. In her deep love, she had anointed his feet with this precious spikenard oil, sensing that dark times were ahead. Her tears flow again, dripping together with the oil onto her own feet. The scent mingles with the spices in the garden. With the resins of the great cedar. It seems to weep as well. The first rays of sunlight already herald the day. They dip the velvety petals of the roses next to the burial cave into a deep red. She closes her eyes and lets the scent flow through her body. The feeling of endless love and security spreads. Suddenly she hears a voice: “Miriam!” Startled, she looks around. The stone is gone! The cave empty! What has happened? “Miriam!” It is his voice! Where is he? “You cannot hold me. Not me. Not my love. Not the rose and not the scent. But I will stay with you. My love remains. The scent of spikenard will comfort you and the red of the rose will remind you of how infinitely great love is.” These words! His words! They strike her right in her wounded heart. Miriam - her name, only he has called her that! A strange calm fills her. She feels the truth of these words in her whole body, her entire soul. And then a great joy spreads within her. A joy that no one can destroy. Easter joy!

I wish you all a happy Easter!

The rose bothered me in this scent again. But it's a nice Easter story.
