But one thing at a time; first I must say that SWY Freeze (to the apparent incomprehension of most perfume lovers here) is my absolute favorite scent.
The undisputed number one.
The one among many.
The unmatched.
Or also: The unicorn of my collection.
The fruity-cool opening is like an olfactory counterpart to the first real warming rays of sunshine that break through the still single-digit temperatures in the spring months and evoke anticipation for the familiar, highly appreciated, and comforting.
The ginger note, which joins shortly after, dampens the euphoria and the emerging summer feelings a bit; after all, there was still frost at night, and the morning sun is just strong enough to fight against the dew on the meadows.
After this brief moment of closing my eyes and pausing, one continues with the day, accompanied by a pleasantly warm lightness and the feeling that is so often described as déjà vu.
I know this from somewhere?!
After a brief frown at the similarity of Freeze to its brothers, a smile followed: Yes, I know that. And that's a good thing. Just as it is good that summer will take a little longer to arrive; it will come soon enough.
The excursion into warmer, brighter, and fresher seasons, which Stronger With You Freeze invites in the opening, gradually turns into scattered little sunbeams that occasionally find their way through the cold blue spring clouds.
However, it quickly becomes clear that in terms of scent notes, we are still in the "glazed chestnut" and "bourbon vanilla" season.
For me, it is the only fragrance that has ever managed to remain so true to itself while simultaneously evoking such contrasting associations and feelings as the other flankers do.
I don't know any other scent that has managed to carry my thoughts so far away from the here and now, only to slowly bring me back to exactly that point.
A unicorn, so to speak.
A scent that will become increasingly harder to obtain until it eventually appears only as one of many stories in my fairy tale collection of perfumes.
