I am not a fragrance professional. I cannot write epic lengths about the composition and development of a scent, as others here can describe so aptly.
But what I can describe is the effect of this fragrance, on me and on others.
Backstory:
For every season, I need two fragrances. Winter/Fall and Spring/Summer. Always one scent for everyday wear and one for going out. For everyday wear this season, I am using DKNY Fresh Blossom. But I still needed a scent for the evening, something seductive that would particularly charm my boyfriend and make me feel utterly sexy, feminine, and glamorous - without smelling "cheap" or like something generic. Sometimes, as a woman, you want that ;-)
For winter, it was clearly Yves Saint Laurent - Manifesto Elixir. And since then, I was looking for a suitable counterpart for the warm season.
I really stumbled into every little perfumery and Douglas (is that how you say it in plural ^^) multiple times. The staff has already looked at me critically, "What does she want here again?". But I never found anything or perhaps I wasn't well advised.
Here in the forum, Dahlia Devine was recommended to me. Until then, I had never heard of this fragrance, and it was never suggested to me on-site either. So I went back to Douglas - once again - with a list of fragrance recommendations - once again!
There, I tried this one alongside numerous other recommendations from this forum - and I was immediately captivated. My nose was already overwhelmed with various other scent influences and the somewhat counteracting coffee beans, but I perceived this fragrance very intensely.
Long story short: I finally ordered it and wore it out on the weekend in the evening.
The effect was astonishing and similar to Manifesto. No lie, I was approached by almost every second friend I hugged to greet. Everyone also took a second sniff. A very seductive effect on the outside world.
But the most important thing:
Once I applied the fragrance, it actually enveloped me, and for once, the marketing hit the nail on the head, like a couture gown. I felt completely prepared for the evening right away.
When I came home that night or rather the morning, I could still perceive the scent on me.
Conclusion:
This fragrance has a magical effect both on me and on my environment.
Whether I would associate it with Alicia Keys is another question ;-) But it is 100% glamorous without being overly ladylike. It suits every occasion - whether going out in style, bar-hopping, dining with friends, etc. - and leaves a lasting impression + has exemplary longevity.
Basically, everything a fragrance should have in my opinion.
I can only recommend it with the highest enthusiasm.
The little plus:
If you don’t have a circle of friends or acquaintances consisting of fragrance junkies or connoisseurs, hardly anyone knows it. Definitely not mainstream :-)
Jillicious, thanks for your comment! It was really helpful for me since the effect of the scent is much more important than the individual notes you can pick up. ;) I'm also on the hunt for the one that will accompany me through the whole season. A real trophy!
I love how you describe and enjoy it. I've somehow lost my heart to it too and have been sniffing samples on and off for many months. Your comment gives me another push. :-)
I really noticed the mirabelle and then the jasmine note quite strongly. At first, it's very sweet and fruity without being "cheesy." Once it settles, you can sense the sandalwood influence. It stays fruity but becomes warmer and softer.
