Sweet Apricots

Dahlia Divin is initially a rather fruity scent that later leans more towards the floral direction. I have had it for about a good year now. I believe it was winter when I bought it used. The start, as mentioned, is very fruity with beautiful juicy-sweet mirabelles. I really like the scent at this stage. However, it soon becomes too sweet for me. Jasmine Sambac and modern, current patchouli, as found in many of today's mainstream fragrances, come through strongly. This sweetness is personally too much for me. I prefer patchouli in the old-fashioned way, dark, earthy, even a bit grave-like. The scent doesn't last more than two hours on me, which doesn't bother me too much. It is not a bad scent in itself, but it doesn't quite match my taste, and I won't repurchase it. It goes a bit in the direction of Coco Mademoiselle, which I personally like much better because it is less sweet, or even a little like So Elixir. One thing I could still try: whether the cold of winter dims the sweetness of the scent a bit. I still have to wait for that. Unfortunately, it cannot compete with the great classics from Givenchy like Organza, Ysatis, Givenchy III, or Eau de Givenchy. However, Dahlia Divin will surely find its admirers.

It seems to me that the young fragrances from the big houses only come close to the true classics in rare cases. But I guess that's just how it is with time and its spirit...
