In November 2025 I bought L’Interdit 2018 version. I instantly loved it and was happy not knowing the original blend from 1957. I have both now. They have almost nothing in common, if you ask my nose. Both are great, though.
The 1957 version is heavy stuff! Overwhelmingly powdery with a huge Jasmine-Lily of the valley blend - rather loud. I do not get an overly fruity beginning. The Amber, Tonka bean and Vanilla sort of steals the show together with the flowers from the start. It is truly elegant and sophisticated with a classic expression. Very ladylike. I can easily see Audrey Hepburn wearing it, always chic and feminine.
I personally prefer the 2018 version, though. I find it more wearable, due to the sillage. It is easier to dose and I can therefore wear it at work. The 1957 is powerful and no matter how little I spray, it fills the room. It is a keeper for private use.
