The Monkey Awakens

Jane Goodall is not necessarily one of my favorites from Granhand, as I am a fan of oriental or floral scents. But it will be thoroughly tested anyway! Because the perfumes from Granhand are certainly interesting.

The name Jane Goodall is probably known to most. She is a British primatologist who has been gathering insights into the lives of chimpanzees like no other since the 1960s.

Every animal species has its own, unmistakable scent. Who doesn't know how a dog or a horse smells, and we can identify these scents among hundreds.
I know how other great apes, namely orangutans, smell. Definitely different from Jane Goodall, but I can very well imagine that chimpanzees smell like this perfume. And that is quite positive and entirely serious, without the slightest hint of irony.

The top note is purely citrus. Bergamot is omitted, grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine are finely balanced, so that none of the three dominates. Underneath, there is a herbal shimmer; I have the impression that the basil is perceptible even before the blackcurrant. Up to this point, it is a fresh, crisp, and bitter scent.
A cool iris takes over from the citrus notes, which become somewhat duller as the fragrance develops.
In the base, a bit of warmth comes through, probably from the patchouli, which I cannot distinctly smell.

Jane Goodall does not have animalistic notes, but simply a very special, unmistakable character. Fresh-crisp, bitter, herbal, woody, and a little warm. That’s exactly how I imagine the body odor of a chimpanzee. It’s time for a visit to the zoo to check this out. Or for a trip directly into the African rainforest!
