I emptied at least two bottles of this fragrance in my younger years. A scent I always liked, but then somehow lost sight of-or rather, lost track of.
When I read that this fragrance was no longer being produced, the familiar hoarding instinct kicked in, and I quickly purchased another bottle. The word "discontinued" always triggers strange behaviors in me... Now, many fragrances that I liked very much back then no longer seem to suit me today. But I thought, at least I have Rush 2 for nostalgic sniffing.
However, the first spray surprised me: I still really like the scent! It is still absolutely wearable today. Fresh, floral, a bit fruity, without the otherwise indispensable sweetness that is so common today, yet not bitter, no scratching, stinging, or biting-just nice, fresh, feminine, compatible with others, and very pleasant to wear.
And they are discontinuing this? WHY? Gucci Rush 2 (which, by the way, has absolutely nothing to do with the classic Rush!) is not a scent that will take your breath away or one that you will never forget, but as I said, it is office-appropriate and will make a pleasant impression. Or you might not stand out at all, depending on the situation. Very few will feel disturbed by this fragrance; many will find this adult fruity-floral pleasantly appealing.
The only downside: The bottle (is that supposed to represent a cassette case? Who even remembers cassettes??). I remember that you could only get the rest of the fragrance out by digging the corners of this plastic thing deep into your palms. But that won't stop me from wearing this lovely scent until it's empty.
I had an interesting experience with this one: My best friend's partner showed it to me - she loves it because it smells so good on her. And she's right: it has this fresh floral scent, very appealing and pleasant. She wanted to do something nice for me and sprayed it on me - and it was like a completely different fragrance. It smelled artificial and "cheap." (This woman and I have noticed this phenomenon with other scents too; the differences can be huge - you wouldn't even guess it's the same fragrance.) "Fruity Floral" sounds like you're right in between in terms of how it's expressed. I'm glad you rediscovered it for yourself :-)
I tested it at Douglas almost a year ago; it was nice, but it didn't really move me to take it with me. Cassettes? They were still around when I was in kindergarten. I guess if you grow up with older siblings, you know about those funny inventions, at least by sight-like Tamagotchis (unfortunately, I never had one).
As for the bottle, I think of a Lego brick, and I'm currently at the bottom with my Rush (I) and starting to have some issues :((. Great review, really enjoyed reading it!
I don't know that one. The second one. I know music cassettes! And the "regular" one, the Gucci Rush. I found it so terrible that I don't even want to think about it anymore. And I guess I'm too late for this one. I've never seen it anywhere! Is the plastic box it's in - PINK? I would have NEVER missed it if it had ever caught my eye. Ugh.
I can't really remember this scent anymore, but I definitely liked it better than the regular Rush! ;-) It seems like a lot is being released right now... or is it just me? ;(
You're right, the bottle is quirky - you would expect more from Gucci. I had a similar experience with Gucci pour Homme… I gifted a 100ml bottle to a friend (since I was "scented out"), and now it’s only available for astronomical prices… I also don’t understand why they always discontinue the best fragrances. Congrats on your “bunker cassette” (yes, I’m old enough to remember those things and the tangled tapes).
Unfortunately, it feels like the wrong fragrances are always being discontinued, and I know the hoarding mode all too well.
Great description from you; I missed that scent.
As someone born in '72, I'm very familiar with cassettes too. I’ll just say "tangled tapes" *grumbles* :-DD
"People-compatible" will be my word of the week.
I'm still highly susceptible to addiction when it comes to the first Rush. I don't know this one at all!? And congratulations on the still young vintage treasure!.. ;)
I once gifted that to a friend, blind. I think I liked it more than she did *lol* A lovely fruity freshness, absolutely pleasant. The bottle was always a bit... strange, that's true :-D *tape trophy*
Of course I remember cassettes, and they were definitely still "in" just 25 years ago. I still have some, even one recorded by a sound engineer: a live concert of our choir performing Bach's Christmas Oratorio. When it was burned to CD later, it sounded like nothing compared to the original. Would I like a scent like that? Probably not, but it doesn’t have to be. Or maybe it does; who knows: Trophy+
Enjoy your bottle for sure!
