The most beautiful dreams are dreamed with open eyes!
-Unknown-
Embruns d'Ylang has pleasantly surprised me ... the scent creates such a wonderful tropical feeling for me ... and all without coconut *amazed*
I dream myself away to tropical picture-perfect beaches ... the ones from advertisements - photos - movies.
A trip there has not yet been granted to me ... but never say never!
However, one should really like Ylang-Ylang, otherwise it won't work with the dreaming ;)
About the scent:
The new Guerlain starts with a very dominant, but beautiful Ylang-Ylang note.
Bergamot completely disappears on my skin, but that doesn't bother me.
Soon, mineral tones join in, not metallic and not salty, but rather sandy-dry, as I perceive them.
The clove can stay away from me, I luckily don't smell it here and can't imagine it fitting in. But that's just my personal opinion!
Instead, there’s now a slightly waxy jasmine note that never disturbs but simply completes the floral impression of the fragrance.
At the latest, when the iris powder dusts everything and Guerlain's finest vanilla unites with patchouli into such a harmonious vanilla cream, you are captivated by this scent!
The base is simply beautifully dreamy :)
A fragrance for the whole year (I couldn't conduct a 30-degree test due to the summer strike, but I can imagine that the mineral tones would come into their own even better then!)
The longevity is over 8 hours. A fine scent aura surrounds me for the first few hours before Embruns d'Ylang becomes close to the skin.
I perceive the scent as more made for us women ... but brave men are welcome to test it :)
The bottles in this Exclusif series are beautiful and high-quality and fortunately now available with regular sprayers.
However, I chose the refill station and the 20 ml travel bottle with these lovely leather cases. It doesn’t always have to be a large bottle, and they are also very pretty to look at, space-saving, and practical :)
Conclusion:
Ylang meets iris powder & mineral tones!
The finest vanilla cream skillfully rounds it all off!
*Dream-Me-Away Fragrance*
Pssst ... testing recommendation for all who love Ylang-Ylang :)
A big thank you to the lovely Parfuma, who got me the fragrance since Sweetie couldn't wait until the next Oberpollinger visit!
Whenever I get close to your amazing descriptive reviews and statements, I get this "must-have" reflex. Yep, luckily I still have an untested sample of this. I'm diving right into it now...
My Ylang test series is officially over. Be glad you don't smell clove. I'm starting to think I'm going crazy. You get the "Be-glad-you-don't-smell-clove trophy" from me :)
Not that you need another reply here, but the "dream-me-away" scent is just right. So wonderfully balanced and no coconut at all! I'm totally with you on that.
You described it so beautifully that it went straight onto my wishlist. It was only through SETA and Narciso Ambrée that I discovered I really like Ylang Ylang.
My motto: Never say never!!!
Excellent comment!
I have to have this scent!
Oh man... I've been bitten by the bug again :-))
Five stars and helpful... for having seduced me... :-))
Very beautifully described! I've been dreaming about this since my last visit to Oberpollinger, and I finally got it today! Tomorrow, I'll daydream with it while working... way, way far away!
That sounds almost like a reissue of Aqua Allegoria Ylang-Vanille?! I know you didn't like it... (though I'd love to send you another sample of the AA - because for me, it's just dreamy... and a 10) but anyway - back to the main topic: Embruns d'Ylang is definitely going on my wishlist - and I'm curious to see if it's similar...;-) Great comment anyway!! :-))
And at the very latest now, I'm absolutely sure that I have to test this at least once (meaning adding it to my wishlist). Thanks for your great teaser comment ;-))
I like ylang, but I'm not sure about the mineral notes. ;-) Thanks for this great and very helpful comment! I've also come to like travel-sized bottles quite a bit; I don't always need those big 100 ml bottles, after all, there’s enough other stuff lying around. ;-)
I do like ylang, but I couldn't get into this one. It was only through your comment that I realized it was probably the mineral note that bothered me. Thanks :)!
None of the fragrances from this line have disappointed me yet. Guerlain really showcases its craftsmanship every time. Since I've gotten quite fond of jasmine, I'll keep this one in mind.
I also find this combination wonderful, and especially because the mineral note isn’t typical for Guerlain, it’s particularly appealing. And the ylang is magnificent.
No, I didn't read that... No, I'm not getting hooked... No, I'm not clicking on the wishlist... Or maybe? Great comment that sparks curiosity. We're all going to end up broke but wonderfully fragrant here :-D
You really know how to make a fragrance sound appealing! It definitely makes me want to give it a try. As if I don't already have enough perfumes in the bathroom! Dream trophy to you!
Oh, interesting! I didn't know that you could get the scents in a smaller version - similar to Hermès. Do they cost proportionally more, or is it similar to Hermès as well?
The scent itself probably isn't for me; too much Ylang isn't my thing, but I'm glad to hear you've seemingly found a new fragrance love! Thanks for the lovely description.
Oh, dear Sweesmell, that sounds really lovely! I need to check how I actually feel about Ylang Ylang, because I’m not sure. But I’ll definitely remember this scent!

Adding it to my wishlist.

Thank you so much for the tip! ;o)
I'm one of the brave men, and of course, I'll give it a try!... ;)
It's not available at KaDeWe yet; can you get it in Germany already? A filling station sounds like Paris!?
Just with a different fragrance.
What a wonderfully beautiful comment for the evening.
