Spicy-Fresh Everyday EDP with Cocktail Attitude
ADDENDUM as PREVIEW! ;-) After the first test described here, I have now worn this fragrance at work and while going out. And yes: It suits me damn well. It is present without being intrusive and gives me the feeling that I smell damn good on every occasion! Therefore, I had to revise my rating upwards! Clear recommendation for purchase for anyone who likes it fresh, spicy, and modern!
+ + + + +
"Guerlain Homme" is a fresh-spicy everyday scent that largely fulfills what the ingredients promise. The longevity is very good, as is fitting for an EDP. We feel the zest of lime, paired with the ethereal aroma of mint and the sweet heaviness of rum. I can't analyze the floral notes precisely, but in any case, the stated heart note seems hardly to come into play.
Clearly noticeable from the start is the smoky-balsamic vetiver, which (as described in my blog) is one of my absolute favorite ingredients. Add to that the more than solid brand Guerlain (which, despite its reputation, is not among the most expensive) and a well-known perfumer ... What more could one want?
Good question to myself! ;-) I like the scent, and it will also remain in my collection. Perhaps it lacks a touch of extravagance, which can quickly drift into not liking. Clearly, Guerlain took the path to mainstream around a decade ago and wants to appeal to a younger audience ... Unfortunately, I can't relate to the sweet "L'Homme Idéal" series at all.
Therefore, I keep telling myself not to underestimate this fragrance ... It does smell good, even after hours. Perhaps if they had skipped the rum, this cocktail-like note might not have emerged!? You know how it is: When you order a drink at a well-stocked bar and take a sniff before the first sip! :-)
Maybe I'm being a bit too critical: The name Guerlain along with lime, mint, vetiver, and cedar. This should have been MY fragrance, if not must be! ;-) However, it doesn't quite hold up against my favorites, and somehow I suspect others feel the same way. A little more courage would suit "Guerlain Homme" well, although this could quickly lead in a direction that I ultimately don't like at all.
For the saying "neither fish nor flesh," I consider this EDP too good, because the quality is simply right. Therefore, it makes it into my personal top 10. That's not bad, is it?! ;-)

Yes, it's a special cream classic scent when you don't want anything too exciting. I think it's great too.

I like it too. It's definitely a fragrance you can't go wrong with, and you won't get weird looks if you accidentally overapply it.
