Red Mask of the Sports Avoider
I do appreciate the original Habit Rouge very much on colder days for relaxing, cuddling, and letting the world be, but I really didn't wear the masterpiece much last winter. Unfortunately, perhaps I will increase the frequency a bit starting in October. So I was all the more curious about the lighter sport version (Thanks to DaveGahan101!). I had to shake my head at the fact that 1) even Guerlain is jumping on the industry's sport trend and that 2) the very unsporty-rocky Habit Rouge is being used for it. But it is not a failure. I believe Guerlain can't actually fail with me ;-)
Much of the original has been dialed back or completely removed. It's as if only the skeleton remains, which has been covered with an androgynous, muscular body complete with muscles. Bamboo meets bitter orange, bergamot, and a bit of pepper in the top notes. Very nice, and without slipping into the esoteric realm that bamboo is often associated with. The jasmine in the heart of the fragrance makes it somewhat charming, and I quite like it this time, but it will probably never be my favorite flower. The whole composition retains a light powderiness and captures the color red very well, so the bottle is more than successful. Its powdery nature also reminds me of some Prada scents. The longer you wear the fragrance, the warmer it becomes, and the more the aforementioned original bones come out. Training does take a toll on the body/fragrance. It closes with patchouli and woods, and I liked the fragrance; operation successful, the patient has a new identity. No longer a diva, rather the sporty office type who has left his party and cuddling time behind.
Sillage is medium strong and miles away from the original. But Guerlain knows exactly how to walk the fine line between too little and too much (even with sport fragrances!). The bottle gets 100% from me and is great! Longevity up to 8 hours.
A sport fragrance that has little to do with the original anymore, but without completely denying it. A sport fragrance and office scent with Guerlain qualities for sports avoiders and cuddle bunnies who still need to overcome themselves.
