Off to Bed
What can I say? This perfume is definitely a must-have for lavender fans.
The beginning is not really my thing. The bergamot adds a certain zest that can initially come off as a bit too overpowering. Unfortunately, there is also a hint of alcoholic lavender that might evoke associations with cleaning products for some. I can only speak for myself, but I often associate many citrus-heavy perfumes with cologne and cleaning supplies. However, if you give the scent a little time, the bergamot fades away and the lavender takes center stage.
I could only catch a whiff of the notes of iris and jasmine at the beginning. Perhaps jasmine plays a hidden role in the background, as it gives the lavender a spicier and more oriental nuance. The lavender unfolds particularly in the middle part and almost resembles essential oil. One might think it doesn't like to share the stage with others and needs its time in the spotlight.
For me, it’s almost a scent I would wear before going to bed. I used to spray lavender spray on my pillow, so I always associate lavender with soothing sleep.
The heart note, where lavender dominates, lasts surprisingly long. You really have to like lavender, as it is the undisputed star of this fragrance. Towards the end, the lavender then leaves the stage to the powdery vanilla. I can't really pick out sandalwood (which is a real shame). I like the transition from the heart to the base note the best. The combination of lavender and powdery vanilla is lovely and not too herbal, as I perceive lavender as bitter and herbaceous. I don't like lavender to be so intense on me, so I find it unfortunate that it isolates itself so much in the middle and stubbornly remains in the spotlight. I would have wished for it to blend a bit more with creamy, soft notes and become fluffier.
Nevertheless, this is a lovely scent for everyday wear that calms the people around you.

I like the Mon Guerlain Intense EVEN more, but you've really described this one beautifully. :-)
