"The Jungle Book"
It smells very fruity - for a Vétiver. But somehow I expected something different from what Guerlain presents in the film "The Jungle Book."
Exotic doesn't always have to mean "fruity." Maybe I just had something else in my mind.
It's like visiting a greenhouse in a botanical garden, where there are many exotic plants, and the air is humid and moist, with those wonderful and unique aromas floating in the air, which you can only find there. Or if you were to take a trip into the dense jungle.
My first and always most important question when it comes to a new fragrance for me is: - "Do I really want to smell like this?" To be honest, I don't know right now. It is beautiful, the Vétiver Fauve, no doubt about it, but I think it is unfortunately not masculine enough for me. But perhaps it was never meant to be. Rather, it is unisex again.
Maybe it would have benefited from a bit more Vétiver and a bit less fruit. And overall, a somewhat different direction. But that's a matter of taste. And it has to be sellable, after all.
The second question is: Does a perfumer at Guerlain always have the freedom to let their creativity run wild, or do the sales figures have to be right in the end... but this question doesn't really need to be answered anyway. If a fragrance doesn't sell well in the end - it will be discontinued anyway. Mass instead of class, unfortunately.
Craftsmanship-wise, the Vétiver Fauve is really well made. But for me as a man, it ultimately doesn't work. Vétiver grass is a masculine scent for me (sorry for that, ladies...) and for the price, this composition is simply too expensive. So I stick with my Guerlain "Vétiver Parfum." It is so wonderful, and I don't feel threatened in my masculinity, and it is just super beautiful (to me). Thank you for that, Madame Jelk.
Monsieur Wasser seems to only be concerned with the "bespoke perfumes" at Guerlain at the moment? - which I actually find a bit unfortunate.
However, anyone looking for a truly beautiful, fruity fragrance and doesn't mind spending money should really go for this perfume.
And thank you to Sveti for the perfume sample :o)))))))))
