Red is something else!

Jesus del Pozo is not exactly the most well-known name in the fragrance world; one might even consider him niche. However, he is not quite in the same league as colleagues like Kilian or Tom Ford, but that doesn't have to be the case.

Del Pozo has always meant very little to me personally, only through my mom who has her favorite perfume from him and has sworn by it forever. The good piece is called Duende and is also a fine women's fragrance. Since I have been getting more into perfumes overall, and also thanks to Parfumo to some extent, I have seen that Mr. Pozo has released quite a few fragrances, many of which have received decent ratings. Therefore, my first pick was Quasar, the cool blue shimmering gear, and I have been a fan of it ever since.

So I kept observing and discovered Halloween for Men some time ago, which personally doesn't suit me that much. The special edition Rock On in a stylish dark red was then immediately in my focus, and now it is finally mine. And the purchase has definitely paid off for me.

The blend is not exactly a widespread one, which is another reason why I wanted Rock On so badly. However, one should not be misled by the color of the bottle. In my eyes, the scent is anything but red, especially at the beginning. It leans more towards light green-silver. It is unexpectedly fresh, but the combination of lemon, bamboo, and cardamom leans more towards fresh yet slightly spicy. The bamboo gives it a certain lightness, somehow unburdened, effortlessly light. The opening is therefore well done.

I would easily classify the longevity at around 6 hours, as it takes some time for the scent to transition into the heart phase. But then it becomes fine and sweet; violet, lavender, and rosemary are all present, and the sweetness seemingly comes from the apple, which unfortunately doesn't come through enough. But the heart is great, and nothing you would necessarily know, thus making it a fragrance that clearly stands out from the crowd.

As the heart note suggests with its sweetness, the base then definitely transitions to warmth. Amber, musk, moss, and sandalwood are not exactly known for accompanying cool and fresh scents, and they show here beautifully how a fresh opening can shift from herbal-sweet to warm and solid. However, Rock On is certainly not a scent for every nose, as even in the base, the spiciness of cardamom and rosemary as well as the sweetness from the heart are still present. A fine blend, but not everyone will appreciate it. I wouldn't classify it as an everyday scent, especially not as an office scent; it's too powerful for that.

Not an everyday scent in itself, but a fine companion for many occasions. Especially among people, outside of work, it is a proud and reliable companion. The freshness provides security, while the warmth gives confidence. I like to wear it when it’s not about anything important, business-related, etc.

However, I have only had it for a few days, and as I know from many other fragrances, it will likely change for me personally over time. I will write a little update then. But I like it, would buy it again immediately, and can only recommend it for its price. If someone doesn't immediately like the blend or is just too unsure for a spontaneous purchase, it's better to test it first.
