Sel Marin is a fragrance that wonderfully plays with contrasts. Characterized by clarity and lightness on one hand, it is also surrounded by a slightly morbid trait, which I love very much. In Sel Marin, I find all four elements olfactorily united:
Air, which hits you in the face in the form of a fresh, salty breeze.
Water, deep, green, a dark pull.
Fire, embodied by the tar that holds the ship's planks together.
And the Earth: I smell rough, rugged coast, washed-up seaweed on the beach.
The transience is always present. Old ship's rope, crumpled and bleached by the sun. Clouds, sometimes leaden on the horizon, sometimes carried by strong winds, quickly changing their shape. Shells and flotsam, worn down by the tides.
The going and becoming in the rhythm of the ocean. Finally, an aquatic fragrance that deserves this description and lives up to it in full measure. Cool Water and its ilk can stand far behind.
