Rose somehow melancholic

Actually, I like the scent of roses in every form, but when it comes to perfume, I prefer either the lush dark rose notes or when the rose is integrated into an unusual concept, and that is exactly the case for me with Rosenthal.

At first, the rose is clear and distinct and also a bit harmless, but that is not meant to last.

Quite quickly, incense and a spicy bitter note join in, which I would like to attribute to angelica root. While the combination still leaves enough space for the rose, it takes away its cleanliness and niceness, and the scent now seems more serious and somehow melancholic to me, without drifting into something truly dark.

Towards the end, patchouli comes through a bit more for me, but I can't perceive any more changes after that.

The longevity on my skin is about 10 hours, the projection is a bit stronger at the beginning, but then settles into a moderate level.

I can imagine that not everyone will like this spicy vibe of the fragrance. In its composition, Rosenthal reminds me a bit of Afternoon of a Faun by ELdO, which, with its distinct straw flower note, appeals more to enthusiasts than to the general public.

The fragrances I have tested so far from Hans Hendley are consistently interesting, and I hope that I will have the opportunity to get to know the remaining scents from this small but intriguing brand.

My thanks to Caligari for the testing opportunity and the nice contact beforehand.

Hans and Rosenthal - it's impossible not to think of TV nights at Grandma's, who loved "Dalli Dalli" so much! I had a bit of a hard time with the Faun, as you know, but that won't stop me from giving this rose a sniff - someday.

I'm not really a fan of rose scents, but this one seems to be interpreted in a special way. I didn't know the brand at all before. Thanks for your lovely description!

As Taurus already hinted - if you catch an old Dalli-Dalli episode and compare the fun factor with what’s being produced today, the rose can only feel melancholic. I think this comment was... fantastic!

I'm really looking forward to the fragrances too! :-) I've already heard that they’re great;) And you're writing a comment like that, so it’s not just random, right? :-) Thanks!

I prefer the rose to be a bit more subtle in the background (on me). This one seems to fit that pretty well. Frankincense is always great ;)
