Purple Felt Hendley Perfumes 2023

Sampling the latest release from Hendley Perfumes, Purple Felt, a 2023 variation on Felt (2019), one of my favorites of the line, a resinous fragrance that I quite love. Purple Felt is an extrait concentration version, whereas the original was EDP concentration, and, paraphrasing from perfumer/owner Hans Hendley’s e-mail on the release, the increased conifer resins yield greater warmth and a blueberry rose aspect. I certainly get decent amount of rose and spices, the features that pair so well with dense, woody resins in the original, and its increased density definitely feels like an enhancement of the original. I’ll have to do a side-by-side with the original at some point but for now this feels like an easy winner and, to me, slight improvement on the original, a rewarding resinous blend featuring plenty of fir balsam and incense notes surrounded by rose and cardamom. Very nice stuff, and fittingly higher-performing than the original.

Purple Felt is already sold out but hopefully will make a return. It has roughly the standard pricing of the house, $250/160/85 for 50/30/15ml.
