Huh, Mercedes?
Yes, you read that right. And first, a little introduction. If you don't like it, it's best to skip straight to "the actual fragrance"...
By now, it's not such a rarity anymore, but there are these scent systems in cars. At MB, it's called "Air-Balance." The purpose and rationale shouldn't be the topic here. I personally think it's great. At MB, there are 4 "regular" scents. The initial delivery (scent note) for standard vehicles is a fragrance that didn't appeal to me (but was bearable). A sample set of the other scents is also included. Well, they didn't blow me away either. They all seemed somehow too "bright, fresh, and sporty" for me. Not at the level of a tree air freshener (price-wise, it's not even close), but for my taste (considering the type of vehicle), it wasn't fitting. The intensity of the scent can be adjusted; I use the lowest setting, so it's really very subtle and unobtrusive. Non-fragrance enthusiasts probably wouldn't even notice it.
One scent is exclusively made for the Maybach. Fortunately, it's not just available for that, but also in the accessory trade from MB (-> 100 ml for just over a measly 500,- , Yep). However, the sales size is always only 15ml bottles that dock to the scent system (so the price is well disguised…). Its scent direction is exactly what "touches" me fragrance-wise in the car and also outside of it. The scent is called "Agarwood-Mood." The Oud note combined with the dark fruity harmony is simply fantastic. So fantastic that I would have loved to have this scent direction as a "real" fragrance. It's this masculine, distinctive, yet subtle Oud smoke note with a muted fruity note that I really like in combination. This marked the beginning of my detour and odyssey through the world of Oud fragrances. Because I find that many Oud fragrances have a "strong rose and floral presence" trailing behind them, making them at least unisex. Or they are so dark, oily, and dirty on the other hand that it almost hurts.
And now to the actual fragrance.
Fortunately, the detour could be halted early (otherwise, I could have just ordered 100 ml of "Agarwood"). This Boss-Oud is exactly what I described earlier with the "Agarwood" scent. Of all things, a "Bottled" flanker? I didn't expect that. For me, the Boss-Oud has (only) a small base note from the original Bottled, which contributes just the right dose of masculine orientation. To me, the Boss-Oud is not recognizable as a "flanker" anymore, but has a very independent fruity-Oud note. Very nice and unexpected (and I'm glad to have discovered it here). According to the packaging, it uses, among other things, "Real, opulent Oud with scents/spices from the Middle East"... oh really...
The longevity is good, the sillage is muted. I have to use quite a bit of spray for it to be perceptible to my senses (and the external test noses).
I'm not sure, due to the lack of warmth, how it performs on mild evenings. In summer, I definitely can't imagine it, but in the evenings when it gets cooler, I can. I've stocked up on it for now, just in case it disappears from the market.

And: What you don't have, you don't miss. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to be without this little extra now. By the way, it also includes ionization of the interior. For our stressed-out noses, it's the "purest" relaxation ;)
