The Magic Root

The new ID perfume bottles are simply beautiful. Clear and straightforward, focusing on the content, not on the - sometimes rather tasteless - bottle. I really like it when all the fragrances of a perfumer are in the same bottle. It definitely enhances the scent.

Iris Flora starts with a fruity top note, reminding me of currants with a certain sweetness. This impression lasts for quite a while until the sweetness completely disappears and the powderiness slowly takes over.

Considering that the refined, dry root of the iris is used, I can only marvel at this beautiful scent accompaniment of Iris Flora. The iris root, which always comes with powderiness, supports the other fragrance notes, but I cannot perceive any floral notes; they are overshadowed by the now very subdued currant note - here more the fruit than the flower.

Just like Magnolia Alba, Iris Flora is also very close to the skin with limited longevity. The powdery lightness of being. The fragrances fall under the Parfumeur Voyageur series and are all worth their - truly moderate - price.

I always like iris, but if a fragrance is just fleeting, I'm out.

When I realized what iris scents are really made of, I kind of fell in love with them. Although today, synthetic substitutes or carrot seeds are definitely used as well. Extracting the scent from roots is quite labor-intensive. - As you surely know.

Yeah, I know, I've read about it. But unlike ambergris, the iris substitute is probably easier to produce and very close to the original. I feel the same way as you; I've liked them ever since I found out what they're made of.

I like iris roots a lot too. But they shouldn't be too dry.

You're right, it does have a powdery scent. This one is just right.
