Decadence in Fruit and Woods
After trying a decant of this scent, I pulled the trigger on a full bottle from Imaginary Authors’ Rare Book Room.
I was then shocked to come on here and see this scent rated so low. Maybe it’s the top notes/initial impressions? A strange, corroded metallic accord (perhaps the “salvaged shipwreck” listed in the notes?) harshes the realistic sweetness of the cantaloupe upon the initial spray, but that disappears almost immediately and can be disregarded.
What this scent becomes in the minutes and hours afterward is a sweet, juicy melon at the peak of its ripeness, fading away (though not disappearing entirely) as the woody notes come to the fore, with a little touch of honey to bridge the space between the dry, slightly funky wood and the juicy sweetness of the cantaloupe.
Weird and wearable, the wilder side of elegance.
