Le Sel d'Issey Issey Miyake 2024 Eau de Toilette

I know salt from the kitchen or in winter as a means against icy roads. It has its own flavor profile, yes - like sour or bitter. But a smell? Well, not directly. But at least... now it gets a bit convoluted... so let's start from the beginning.

Upon spraying, a spicy-sharp scent rises to the nose. A ginger note. Spicy and slightly dark floral. Then follows an aquatic note, airy and light. Floating? Is that the salt? No idea.
It smells like seawater. Seawater that dries on the skin. One can somewhat imagine the mineral crystalline aspect.
Accompanying this is a woody-mossy note. The base of this fragrance.
It feels quite linear and incredibly fresh. Aquatic.

Something different, most aquatics come with a lot of citrus or floral notes.
Not needed here.

Aquatic, fresh, spicy. A green leg note is discernible in the sky.

Light and airy. Nothing heavy or overwhelming.

I really like it. The performance is above average for a fresh scent. Seven hours on the skin. Clearly more on clothing.

I was handed a sample of it. I thought it would be just another fresh fragrance.
It was, but due to the aforementioned characteristics, it is a distinctive fresh scent with beautiful facets.
It probably works all year round. But especially for warm seasons.

I still don’t know what salt smells like. But I really like this fragrance.
