Love Letters in the Smoking Fireplace
Recently in the perfumery:

In search of a "summer fragrance!!!!" I was recommended this scent at my chosen perfumery.
At first glance at the included fragrance components, it was clear to me that oud hardly fits in with summer. I had a spritz of the fragrance applied to my skin despite better judgment. After the first spray, Jacoglu began to tell his story:

A man sits in front of a fireplace, burning old love letters. The floral scents that have long clung to the letters perish along with the smell of just as old paper in the smoking fireplace.
It seems there were also books read together in leather bindings. These are then also left to the fire, reinforcing the smoky scent with an old mustiness.

I now wonder, how does such a summer fragrance recommendation come about? Should I part with the old through a book burning? Make room for a new summer love? I'm not quite sure how this all fits together.......

Even if my associations do not harmonize with this fragrance, here is a bit of the fragrance experience.

At the beginning, I perceive a very floral oud composition. For seconds, light, fragrant flowers join the dark, somewhat smoky oud. Unfortunately, only for seconds. Quickly, the somewhat biting smoke takes the lead. This remains dominant for hours and does not soften. (On paper, it still smells of ash for days)

Only after a few hours does it manage to harmonize with my skin, spreading a pleasantly warm fireplace scent (in winter, lacking a fireplace, surely an alternative).

I really cannot warm up to this fragrance at all. And with the greatest imagination, I have no idea of summer. But even in winter, the musty smell wouldn't really enchant me. So we will probably not become friends..... The fireplace remains cold.

It smells amazing. And woe to anyone who says otherwise! A bit of indolic jasmine for my taste, then a base of benzoin along with ambrette... nice ;)

Wonderoud with floral accents. The oud plays a minor role, while the benzoin really packs a punch. I like that.

You can't get much more out of the topic of Oud, but the sour notes here (blackcurrant, grapefruit) are something different.
