The most fitting name one can think of
Although it's not for me, it's the best vetiver I've ever smelled. Caramel is included, which isn't mentioned above, but was on the back of the bottle at KaDeWe. And that makes it pleasantly soft and rounded. It has nothing, absolutely nothing piercing. And for all the gourmand haters: It won't be sweet either. At first, it's zesty, green, fresh, and then it quickly unfolds a pleasant warmth. A fresh warmth, yes, that exists. The scent develops into a cuddly, gentle, friendly companion, in which the vetiver is still clearly recognizable. That's why I think it has the most fitting name one can think of: Vetiver Velour.

my dance skirt
At the moment, three Mecheris are on offer in my regular perfumery.
Bal de Roses, Soussanne, and Vetiver Velours.
Joy of beautiful divine spark!

My nose delightedly swings back and forth between the noble scents and can't decide.
Ideally, one would take all three - but they aren't exactly cheap.

Vetiver reminds me of my soft, flowing suede skirt that accompanied me to dance school, accentuating every one of my movements gracefully.
That's how Jive and Cha-Cha were fun.
The Vetiver is delicately herbaceous, yet it doesn’t take away from the fragrance's momentum.
The light toffee note melts in the nose - elegantly intertwined with the tobacco.
The woodiness is a transparent branching, and it doesn’t weigh down the scent.
It remains light-footed in elegance and attractively casual - with a high-quality statement.

For now, I have chosen the sweeter Soussanne - but Vetiver Velours continues to linger in my mind.

A state of suspension between watercolor and 3D image....
Today I tested fragrances again in the perfumery. Since I am a fan of vetiver scents in all variations, I couldn't help but take a closer look at Vetiver Velours. Keiko Mecheri, an interesting Japanese fragrance manufacturer, but also quite expensive. Unfortunately. Now to the scent itself: At the beginning, right after spraying, there is a floating note that is almost ALWAYS at the END of the fragrance structure in most perfume compositions. As a "carrying" base note. But with "Vetiver Velours," it seems to linger above everything in a kind of weightlessness. Above the spices, which themselves hardly have any "weight," yet are still distinctly noticeable. And also above subtle woods, which in turn occupy a sphere of their own and FLOAT UNDER everything else. Yet everything interacts with each other at different depths. So light, and yet so THERE. Floating-manifest. At first "nose glance," the perfume appears to me as a watercolor painting, rendered in pastel tones, and somehow "surreal." The "mind" is switched off. Automatic painting. But when I take a closer olfactory look, Vetiver Velours gradually transforms into a kind of 3D image, where one can penetrate into the different depths and "dimensions" with a certain gaze. The observer is subject to a fascinating optical illusion. In Keiko Mecheri's fragrance, this "optics" has been translated into an Eau de Parfum. Whether the perfumer intended this effect when he/she composed this scent, or if it is just my personal impression, I cannot say, but there are only a few fragrances that evoke this feeling in me when I smell them. In any case, "Vetiver Velours" lasts well and long. The olfactory concept suits all seasons and many occasions. All age groups and genders.

Strange Memories
My father is a man with a lot of money and great stinginess. He would never spend money on a perfume. His wife is actually quite frugal as well, and I would have guessed she uses Balea instead of Biotherm and Lidl instead of L'Artisan fragrances. But when I recently tested Jubilation XXV, this scent strongly reminded me of my father's wife at celebrations. And with this fragrance, I feel the same way again. I smell my father's wife.

This presents me with certain problems. I find this scent beautiful, but it would take me a lot of courage to wear it in public. The same goes for Jubilation XXV.

But... am I so mistaken about this woman, whom I have known for almost a quarter of a century? Or does a mixture of inexpensive creams and perfumes create an olfactory footprint that resembles these highly exclusive fragrances so closely!?

As for the scent itself, I can say that vetiver here, along with the musk and woods, truly provides a somehow fresh and green warmth. The sweetness is present but stays in the background. Above all, the fragrance is warm and cozy. One doesn't notice much of oud and spices; musk and vetiver are at the center for my nose.

A really soft and beautiful vetiver scent
The "Les Merveilles - Vetiver Velours | Keiko Mecheri" completely surprised me, as I didn't expect to be so taken with it by the end of the fragrance pyramid. I find this to be a vetiver scent that doesn't clash at all and comes across as really soft. The longevity on my skin is strong, lasting more than 12 hours, although the sillage is rather moderate.

The top note starts fresh, green, spicy but also sweet. I can hardly identify specific aromas - this scent really pushes my boundaries! Exciting! I would most likely identify a certain tea aroma and tobacco. The heart note transitions into a floral and powdery direction. I detect chamomile, iris, violet, lily of the valley, as well as daffodils. The base is the trump card here! One can discern woody, balsamic, resinous, and hardly earthy nuances of sandalwood, benzoin, vetiver, musk, as well as cedarwood. But all in a really beautiful symbiosis - wonderful!

Yes, the "Les Merveilles - Vetiver Velours | Keiko Mecheri" has somewhat blown me away. Many thanks to Nick for the sample.

A beautiful woody-green scent with resinous-sweet and subtly spicy elements. Vetiver is very soft and smooth here.

The name fits perfectly. First bubbly and sparkling, the scent then becomes velvety vetiver, surrounded by a fine resinous sweetness. Really exquisite.

Warmer, cleaner, comforting vetiver. Woody-green, a bit breezy, cozy like velvet, the name fits.

Vetiver for those who usually don’t like it: cuddly soft musk with just a hint of vetiver, warm and embracing.

Creamy wood coated with sweet-spicy benzoin toffee melt. The scent is lovely, like a warm hug. But for me, it's too masculine.

Icy and loud whistles the wind.
I hurry across the open field,
into the shelter of the forest,
breathe easy:
green smoke
protective wood
warm silence.

Vetiver from start to finish, embraced by sweet warm woods. No major development, just simple and beautiful. For m/f.

In the opening, it's fresh-green, but the vetiver becomes silkier + warmer. Delicate spicy woods + resinous sweetness flatter the green. Too masculine for me.

How can vetiver be so dreamily soft & full of warmth? And that, without completely denying its distinctive green character. Bravo!

A flattering soft and delicate balsam scent with sweet tobacco, a hint of vetiver shines only at the start. Later sweet. Beautiful!
