A Fragrance from the Neroli Universe

One knows this particularly from novels: Successful stories are picked up by other authors and used for thematically related books. You often read something like "From the Lord of the Rings Universe" on the cover. Everyone wants a piece of the success - even if it is from the success of others.

This circumstance immediately came to my mind during the first test of Jaguar Excellence. The central pivot of this fragrance is the orange blossom, as one particularly knows from some scents penned by Francis Kurkdjian. Connections to Fleur du Mâle and also Custo Barcelona are almost inevitable, so the fragrance could easily carry the teaser "From the Neroli Universe of Francis Kurkdjian." Nevertheless, it develops in a pleasantly independent way. Primarily, the orange blossom is spiced with a strong pinch of pepper and initially receives a subtly fresh acidity. Later, more floral accords are added, with the lily of the valley being the most prominent to my nose. However, the pepper remains well present, ensuring that Jaguar Excellence does not become too floral. Towards the dry down, a rather standard vanilla-tonka combination emerges. I would have wished for a different twist here. Nevertheless, it fits well with the overall progression.

The intensity of the fragrance is, in my opinion, quite well dosed and can certainly compete in the upper mid-range. The first 2-3 hours, the projection is also noticeably present, after which it gradually weakens. Points are deducted once again for the bottle: The glass is solid and well-crafted, but the cap feels rather cheap and wobbles for me as well. I don't want to overrate this (especially in this price segment), but it is still unnecessary and unfortunate for the overall impression.

Overall, you still get a lot for your money. Those who like Kurkdjian's neroli hits, or other related floral fragrances like Reflection Man, might at least consider this one. I find Jaguar Excellence particularly well wearable due to the successful combination of neroli with the peppery spice - even in everyday life.
