I think I have the latest version too, and I don't find it all that animalic. At least not as much as one might expect from previous statements. It seems there’s still plenty of stock available despite it being discontinued. It's currently being sold everywhere on sale. For now.
It never bothered me either; for me, it's a classic that millions of women have loved and worn... and men too, of course. Instead, Dior has now used the name for a meaningless fragrance.
I really like the animalic notes in it.
Otherwise, Patou is beyond any doubt. Or rather, it used to be...
